Barbara J. Smith

Barbara J. Smith, 81, formerly of Pennside, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 in St. Joseph Medical Center. She was the widow of Richard W. Smith, Jr. who passed away October 22, 2007. Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Edwin and Mabel (Balthaser) Steffe. Barbara was a graduate of Reading High School. She was a switchboard operator for Bell Telephone after high school and later worked as a secretary in the Mt. Penn School District and lastly worked for Gilbert Associates. Barbara is survived by: One Son: Richard H. Smith husband of Denise of Exeter Township and Two Grandchildren: Zachary R. and Emily A. Smith. She was pre-deceased by her sister Marilyn Weyandt. Visitation with family and friends will be held on from 9:00-10:00 A.M. with services beginning at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, July 13, 2015 in the Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. 2100 Perkiomen Ave. Mt. Penn.
