Paul Andrew Frisch

April 27, 1954 — June 15, 2016

Rev. Dr. Paul Andrew Frisch

Paul Andrew Frisch, 62, passed away in the comfort of his home in Shillington, Pennsylvania on June 15, 2016, surrounded by his loving family after battling cancer for eleven months. Paul is survived by his beloved wife of 31 1/2 years, Leith Ross Frisch, and two adoring children, Joshua Ross Frisch and Rachael Elizabeth Frisch, as well as his five siblings, Fred Frisch (Blanche), Linda Eremus (Denny), Mimi Collins (Tom), Bobbi Fera (Jim), David Frisch (Lynne); sister-in-law Alison Ross; cousin-in-law Linda Roulston, as well as many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Paul was born in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania to the late Dr. Frederick Frisch and Bette (Roulston) Frisch. He grew up in Ventnor, New Jersey, where he fell in love with the ocean and was a lifeguard for fifteen summers with the Ventnor City Beach Patrol. For the rest of his life he visited the beach to be "home". He graduated from Atlantic City High School and Rutgers University. He earned a Master of Divinity from Columbia International University in Columbia, South Carolina followed by a Doctor of Ministry in Marriage and Family Therapy from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary (Palmer Seminary) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Paul was an ordained pastor with the Christian and Missionary Alliance (CMA). He pastored congregations at Trinity Alliance CMA Church in Pomona, New Jersey and Green Mountain Chapel in Brattleboro, Vermont. As a licensed marriage and family therapist, he started a private counseling practice and served countless individuals, couples, and families. Paul was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Reading, Pennsylvania.

Paul and Leith were married on October 20, 1984. Joshua and Rachael were blessed to see humility modeled in the most beautiful way through their parents' marriage. And what a beautiful life Paul helped create for their children; a home in which love was not just a word but was undeniably palpable. Paul enjoyed nothing more than having close relationships with his family and he never wasted an opportunity to tell them how much he loved them. Even in moments of physical weakness, he still cared for them deeply, and how easy it was to love him back.

He showed his family what true and complete forgiveness looks like and that every life has value. He could befriend a store cashier in the two minutes that it took him to check out and learn the life story of the customer support person on the phone. He never failed to comfort his children and wife in the most compassionate way when they were struggling. Every meal anyone cooked was the best food he ever tasted. He was an incredibly generous giver and radiated joy and love.

He embodied grace and compassion and poured into others in the most generous way. He adored people and valued them as individuals who all had a story. He let people know they are not invisible and demonstrated the most profound example of integrity and humility. His faith in Christ was not shattered by anything he faced, and his strength was a witness to everyone who knew him. One of his deepest joys was talking to others about Christ. He had an extraordinary impact on his family, friends, those he counseled and ministered to, and everyone who came in contact with him. His life was one of full joy and well-lived.
