Betty L. High (Searfoss)

January 18, 1926 — August 9, 2016

Betty L. High, 90, passed away August 9, 2016 at Country Meadows. She was married for over 62 years to Robert F. High, who passed away May 2, 2009. Betty was born in Muhlenberg Township, the daughter of the late George H. and Emma M. (Kline) Searfoss. She was pre-deceased by her son, Robert G. High in 2014, her siblings Fern, George H., Jr. and Dorwin and her niece Deborah Miles. Betty was a 1943 graduate of Muhlenberg High School. She was a member of West Lawn United Methodist Church. Before retiring, Betty was a secretary at J.C. Ehrlich and Crompton and Knowles. Betty is survived by her son, Lee E. High, husband of Sharon (Eisele) High and daughter-in-law, Diane M. (Perate) High. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Lauren, Libby and Alex; one great-grandchild, Arya; nieces Kathy Raskiewicz, Judy Tobias and Nancy Hoy, nephews George Searfoss, Glenn Searfoss, Dorwin Searfoss and Larry Miles. Betty was a great cook and loved knitting, needlework and doing puzzles. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 p.m. with services beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 in the Lutz Funeral Home, Inc., 2100 Perkiomen Ave., Reading, PA 19606. Interment in Forest Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to West Lawn United Methodist Church, 15 Woodside Ave., West Lawn, PA 19609.
