Obituary for Russell "Skip" Rudy Jr.

Russell C. "Skip" Rudy, Jr., 71, of Mount Joy, passed away, Thursday, April 26th, 2018 in Pleasant View Retirement Community. He was the husband of Margaret Louann (Rhoades) Rudy. Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Russell C. Sr. and Faye D. (Willman) Rudy. Skip graduated from Exeter High School in 1964 where he won 9 varsity letters in football, basketball and baseball. He then attended Bloomsburg University where he played football, lettering three years and received his Bachelor's Degree in Education. Later Skip was the offensive coordinator at Holy Name High School from 1969-1977. From 1978-1985 he was the head coach at Holy Name High School with a record of 58-32-1 and also an assistant coach at Albright College for three years. Skip was a Teacher for the Wilson School District for 35 years until his retirement and a member of Salem Bellman's Church in Mohrsville. In addition to his wife, Skip is survived by his children, John N. Rudy husband of Michelle of Elizabethtown, one daughter, Melissa L., wife of Troy Frederick of Strawberry Point, Iowa; Three grandchildren, Jake, Josh, Samantha and one sister, Sharon Elder of Lehighton. Visitation with family and friends will be held on Tuesday May 1, 2018 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with services beginning at 11:00 am in Schwarzwald UCC, 75 Church Lane Rd, Reading, PA 19606. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Pennsylvania Chapter-Harrisburg Office 9378, 2595 Interstate Dr. Suite 100 Harrisburg, Pa 17110.
