Anne Nordhoy

August 11, 1940 — February 28, 2018

Anne Nordhoy, 77, of Spring Township, passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 while on vacation in Tampa, Florida with her beloved husband Frode. Born on August 11, 1940 in Oslo, Norway, she was the daughter of the late Johan and Hildborg (Sundsli) Fjeldstad. Anne graduated from Oslo High School in Norway in 1958 and immigrated to the U.S. with her husband in 1960, where they began to build their life together over the next 58 years. In addition to her husband, Anne is survived by their three children: Tom; Erik, husband of Suzanne; Kari, wife of Douglas Stenberg; and their five grandchildren: Maren, Madeline, Adam, Annika, and Amelia Nordhoy.

Anne’s journey through life touched and influenced those around her in many ways over the years. Her role as chief confidant to the president (as well as document and financial manager) was critical to the launch and early success of Strategic Analysis Inc. which was founded by Frode Nordhoy in 1977. Over the years, SAI has grown into a major global business consultancy with hundreds of employees and offices in the Americas, Europe, and Asia.

Over the past four decades, Anne also became well-known within the global alpine ski community as a competitor and supporter of the Masters Ski Racing program. Through tireless training and commitment (think ski training on glaciers in Chile in the summer), Anne won the Masters World Championship title in her age bracket five times as well as numerous U.S. Championships and other awards.

Beyond her skiing, Anne was perhaps best known for her creativity and general passion for life. Her talent with (the ever-present) knitting needles and sewing machine was legendary and she regularly outfitted family and friends with breath-takingly beautiful sweaters, scarves, gloves, hats, “onesies”, slippers and other assorted items, including her daughter’s wedding dress. The well-traveled needles and yarn were regularly observed on the fields of her kids’ and grandchildren’s athletic events to her more exotic travel destinations (Great Wall of China, Galapagos Islands, the Plains of Africa, etc.) and everywhere in between. She was also known to be knitting calmly by the starting gate at serious ski competitions!

An open celebration of Anne’s life will be held on Friday, March 23, 2018 from 11am-1pm at the Berkshire Country Club, 1637 Bernville Road, Reading, 19601. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association P.O. Box 15120 Chicago, IL 60693.
