Edward H. Wiswesser

Edward H. Wiswesser, 100, of Pennside, passed away, Saturday, March 3, 2018 in Reading Hospital and Medical Center. He was the husband of Jane (Warren) Wiswesser who passed away June 21, 1995. Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Louis and Hattie (Flatt) Wiswesser. Ed graduated High School from the Reading School Systems and later graduated from the Wyomissing Polytechnic Institutue (WPI) now known as Penn State Berks. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Mt. Penn and from 1940-1946 worked at the Philadelphia Naval Yard designing warships for the United States Navy including the Battleships New Jersey and the Wisconsin which he was very proud of. He retired as a Professional Mechanical Engineer who had various careers in the designing of boilers, piping, heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems. He also worked on the design of power plants and had experience working with Municipal Water Systems. After his retirement in 1982 from Spotts, Stevens and McCoy he continued Engineering work as a private consultant. Ed was the past President of the Reading Chapter of the Penna. Society of Professional Engineers and the past President of the Reading Chapter of the Navy League of the United States. He was also a member of the Reading Society of Model Engineers and had authored a book on the history of the Reading Steam Locomotives. Ed survived by two sons Richard E. husband of Donna of Exeter, Randall L. husband of Ruth Ann of Laureldale and one daughther Carol J. wife of Fraser Clemons of California. He is also survived by six grandchildren Michelle, Julie, Lori, Jesse, Amy, Jonathan and great grand daughters Sophia and Hanna. He was pre deceased by his brothers Karl A. and William J. "Bill". Visitation with family and friends will be held on Friday, March 9, 2018 from 9:30 am - 11:00 am with services beginning at 11:00 am in the Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. 2100 Perkiomen Ave, Mt. Penn Interment in Charles Evans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Faith Lutheran Church 210 N. 25th St. Reading 19606.
