William P. Thomas
(WWII Veteran, Ex-POW)

Mr. William (Bill) Peter Thomas, 90, of Pennside, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2016 at The Highlands in Wyomissing, PA.
He was the loving and dedicated widower of Esther G. (Weber) Thomas, who entered eternal rest on December 29, 2014. They celebrated 60 years of marriage together on October 24, 2014.
Bill was the fourth born child, of eight, to the late Peter and Thalia (Demakou) Thomas.
Bill was a graduate of Reading High School who volunteered and served in many capacities for numerous organizations throughout his life, as he always possessed a heart-felt desire to give back to his community and help others. He was a 65-year Mason, Shriner and Sertoman (Service to Mankind).
Bill was a very respected employee and previous District Sales Manager of The Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. (Met-Life) for more than 55 years. Bill earned his Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation as a graduate of The American College of Life Underwriters and was also a graduate of UC, Santa Cruz and held nine licensures in order to provide his clients with the best possible service in insurance and financial planning. His honesty, devotion, pride, trust and respect were among his personal qualities that led to his professional successes.
Bill was a member of Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church and the former St. Matthew's Greek Orthodox Church. Throughout his Ecclesiastical commitments he served as an Altar Boy, sang in the Church Choir for more than 25 years and was a previous Church Council President. He received recognition by The Church with the honor of Father of The Year also.
Bill was extremely proud to have served his country in The US Army during WWII. Known as "Greek" to his fellow servicemen, he was trained in Morse-Code communications and was a Skilled Rifleman. He was an Ex-POW who was liberated, by General George S. Patton, after 6 1/2 months of captivity. This taught him to never lose FAITH, never take anything for granted and to always appreciate HOME!
Bill is survived by his daughters, Joanne (Brian) Thomas Koch and Kathy (Michael) Moyer. He was lovingly called, "PaPou" by his seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Bill was a very proud and providing partner to "The Love Of His Life, Esther." They were admired as "The cutest couple who always held hands". His special love for her made his earthly time since her passing, heart breatkingly lonely. Bill was an extremely intelligent, religious, generous, kind, eloquently spoken and humble Gentleman, a good listener and an avid golfer who loved to walk. His favorite color was blue and he treated "all" people fairly.
