I am so sorry to hear this news of Phil. He was my concert partner through the late 1990s in organ/harpsichord concerts we did together. We played in National Cathedral, Williamsburg, and local concerts, and I was his accompanist in one of his White House concerts. He was a fantastic player and mentor. I wondered why he wasn't answering my emails. I have very fond memories of our years working together, as well as our high school years, visiting the Compton homestead. I will miss him tremendously. My deepest condolences go to you his family Quiayan, Michael, Billy, Jane, Joanne, Robin and Nancy. Margaret (Nolt) Marsch

Mr. Compton was my piano teacher in high school. He was a wonderful instructor, and I will remember his lessons fondly. My sincerest condolences.

Phillip was my roommate Junior year at Susquehanna University. It's because of him and his love of that instrument that I first became interested in pipe organs. I probably wouldn't be as involved with the Spreckels Organ Society today as a supporter and board member if it weren't for Phillip's positive influence on my life. My sympathies extend to his family and friends ...

Phil was an accomplished musician and later in life, and artist. He was also very intelligent. While he and I lived in very different worlds, I respected his view on all matters of life and often consulted his advice. I offer my sincere sympathies to his family.
