Theodore H. Ennis

Theodore (Ted) H. Ennis, age 94, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, passed away on Friday, August 27, 2021. He was the husband of the late Nancy J. (Cramp) Ennis, who died on August 19, 1980. Born in Reading, he was the son of the late John and Alma (Wagner) Ennis. In addition to his parents and wife, he is predeceased by his siblings, Robert, George, and Harold Ennis and Ruth (Ennis) Moon.
He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Philippines and Japan. He was a proud member of the American Legion. He was the President of Ennis Manufacturing from 1965 to 1974, and was the President of Birdsboro Casting from 1970 to 1981. He also owned a trucking company, Industrial Express, for many years before finally retiring in 2011.
He was an avid boater on the Chesapeake Bay and enjoyed deep sea fishing in the Bahamas, especially on the island of Bimini. He enjoyed hunting in the Oley Valley and surrounding areas. He loved the Philadelphia sports teams, particularly the Phillies and the Eagles. His passion in later years was performing karaoke for friends and family.
He was a past president of the Penn Alsace Athletic Association and a past member of the Kiwanis Club of Reading. He was an active member of Pennside Presbyterian Church, directing and producing musical shows for its benefit.
He is survived by his daughter, Judith A. (Henry) Zepeda, of Canton, GA, and his son, Theodore H. (Marie) Ennis, Jr., of Ponce Inlet, FL. He leaves five grandchildren, Julie Zepeda, Elissa (Britt) Carter, Philip (Alena) Zepeda, Mark (Emily) Ennis, and Rebecca (Eric) Crocker, and seven great-grandchildren, Bayley and Brooke Carter, Isabelle and Brady Ennis, Zoey and Mackenzie Crocker, and Nikola Zepeda.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Ted’s name to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
