Steven J. Krize, 71, of Muhlenberg, passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2021, in his home. He was the husband of Katina (Syrellis) Krize. Born and raised in Reading, PA, he was the son of the late Robert D. and Jeannine (Aulenbach) Krize. Steve was a graduate of both Muhlenberg High School and Wesley College and served in the United States Army Reserve. He worked for Carpenter Technology in bar finishing for many years until his retirement.
Steve is survived by two daughters Nikki Krize (Brendan), Lewisburg, Julie Krize, Toronto, one brother Jon (Eileen) of Birdsboro and many nieces and nephews. He was pre deceased by a brother R. Daniel (Dorothy).
Steve loved vacationing at the Jersey Shore with his family where he always ate the same ice cream flavor (chocolate peanut butter), weekends in New York City for a great meal and a Broadway show, and visits to see his youngest daughter in Toronto. One of his fondest memories was a family trip to Italy; filled with pizza, history, and snapping sneaky photos in the Sistine Chapel!
Steve was a long time sports fan. He played football and baseball growing up and attended Muhlenberg games and matches even once his daughters graduated. He loved watching tennis matches and took the family to the US Open on several occasions. He was a passionate Phillies, Flyers and Penn State fan, and enjoyed attending and watching games. His love of sports fueled his hobby of autograph collecting, and he was proud of his extensive collection. Growing up he always had a great taste in music, finding new bands as well as enjoying the classics. Steve will be remembered for his witty personality, epic text messages, and spoiling the family dogs.
Visitation with family and friends will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. with services beginning at 3:00 p.m. in Lutz Funeral Home, Inc.. 2100 Perkiomen Avenue, Reading Pa 19606..
