Bailey Rhea Jones

January 10, 1943 — December 20, 2021

Bailey Rhea Jones, 78, of Sinking Spring, passed away on Monday, December 20, 2021, in Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center. He was the husband of Patricia (Vermillion) Jones, with whom he celebrated 55 years of marriage. Born in Wharton, Texas, he was the son of the late Chester and Cecil (Rhea) Jones. Bailey graduated from Lamar High School in Houston, TX. He then went on to get his Masters Degree in Chemistry from The University of Texas, and he also got his Doctorate in Physical Chemistry from The University of Southern California. Bailey loved reading mystery novels, sport cars, and tinkering with computers. He was a member of Wiest United Methodist Church. Bailey was a distinguished member of the technical staff at Bell Laboratories for 34 years until his retirement.

In addition to his wife, Bailey is survived by his daughter; Macy A. Jones, wife of Kenneth Yan, Commack, Long Island, NY. He is also survived by several nephews, great-nieces and nephews. Bailey was predeceased by his sister, Ellanor Ann Maddox.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 27, 2021 beginning at 11:00 am in Wiest United Methodist Church, 485 S King Street Stevens, Pennsylvania 17578. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Wiest United Methodist Church. Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements. For those attending please wear a mask.
