Dorothy B Harris (Hilbert)

Dorothy B. "Dottie" (Hilbert) Harris, 96, of Geigertown, passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, in Reading Hospital. She was the widow of Robert G. Harris who passed away February 11, 1983. Born in St. Lawrence, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Emma (Brown) Hilbert. She graduated from Mount Penn High School in 1944 and the Reading Hospital School of Nursing in 1949. Dottie worked in the delivery room at the Reading Hospital for 24 years, retiring in 1986, and was a lifetime member of the alumni association of the Reading Hospital School of Nursing. She was an avid sports fan, especially watching her family compete. Dottie loved sitting on her porch watching the birds at her feeder, and her favorite spot on Earth was her hunting cabin in Bald Eagle State Forest where she went every year since she was 13.

Dorothy is survived by her son William R. Harris, husband of Yvonne, New Holland; her daughters Sherri L. Harris, Geigertown, and Deborah L. Lush, wife of John, Geigertown; her four grandchildren Rob, Mike, Sara, and Heidi; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Rev. R. Richard Harris, who passed away in 2021, and her brothers Rodney B and Timothy Ray Hilbert.

Services will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 beginning at 11:00 am in Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. 2100 Perkiomen Avenue Reading, PA 19606. Interment will be at Schwarzwald Cemetery, Jacksonwald.
