Mr. Marvin (Renowned Interior Designer)
Marvin P. Auchenbach, 100 passed peacefully February 19, 2015, at the home of his loving granddaughter, Lisa (Angstadt) and her husband David Wysocki of Bern Township. Formerly of Stony Creek Mills, he was the son of the late Paul C. and Florence (Shade) Auchenbach He is the widower of Dorothy (Hill) Auchenbach who passed December 6th, 2013. He leaves behind his granddaughters, Lisa, Kathy Harrison and Diane Richard, his son-in-law John A. Welfling, seven great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grand children. and step-brother Brooke Manbeck.
Marvin was employed by the Berkshire Knitting Mills as a full-fashion knitter, where he met his wife Dorothy of 73 years. Later he started his career in Designing and Decorating with DonMart Interiors, attended New York School of Design and Parsons School, NY. He started his own Interior and Drapery business co-operated with his Dorothy, known as “Marvin Interiors.” Last but not least, he was the Interior Designer and Buyer for the Village Furniture Galleries, Leesport , founded in 1966.
Our Poppop was a legend in so many wonderful ways. He had expressions and an aire about him that will always be remembered by those that knew him. He was a loving and most gracious Father andGrandfather helping and teaching us so many valued lessons about life and natural beauty. He was always there when we needed him. His words will always be remembered and cherished. Two of his favorite expressions were, “Tell it like it is” and “Mind over Matter.” Our Poppop will be missed so deeply.
Marvin is also predeceased by his beloved daughter Diane Welfling and a sister Mildred Stover.
