Bert A. Walker, 86, of Exeter Township, passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2025 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of the late Renate (Heinze) Walker with whom he shared 67 years. Born in Reading, PA, he was the son of the late Charles A. and Dorothy M. (Clemmer) Walker. Bert attended 13th & Union Primary School. At the age of 9, after the passing of his father, he boarded a train to attend Steven Girard School in Philadelphia from 5th to 9th grade. He returned home and graduated from Reading High School in 1956. He worked at Firestone Company and OxyChem plant for 46+ years, retiring in 2003. During his tenure, Bert served in a management capacity which most of his employees would agree that he was a tough but fair manager.
Bert (Gramps) enjoyed vacations to the Poconos, proudly maintaining his car and household to his demanding standards, cooking (including entire holiday buffets), sharing his abundance of knowledge, quips, humor, and ensuing traditions and values into his family.
Bert loved his family as Jesus loved the church. He was a devout Christian and loved the Lord with his whole heart. He did not fear death and joined the Lord in His house as a friend.
Bert is survived by his daughter, Erica (Walker) Weaver, companion of Jay Gaugler, his grandchildren; Joshua (Andrea), Melissa (Alexander), Brett (Jennifer), Kirsten (Andrew), and Bailey (Makayla), as well as his great-grandchildren; Hannah, Lanna, Brayden, Trinitie, Griffin, Grayson, Ryker, Aspen, Chase, Allaire, Bristol, and Colby. Bert was preceded in death by his brothers; Jan and Todd.
