Betty Lou Lucas

Betty Lou Lucas, 77, of Laureldale, passed away peacefully on Saturday June 29, 2024 at Reading Hospital Tower Health, surrounded by her loving son, her niece Bonnie, and her best friend Sheree. Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late David E. and Catherine E. (Noll) Derr. Betty attended Reading High School and then went on to cosmetology school. She opened her own beauty shop in Reading which she operated for many years. She then worked as a chocolatier at Bortz Chocolate, and finally as a supervisor at Alcon. Betty enjoyed spending time at Rosedale Camp Grove, and at Ocean City NJ. 

Betty is survived by her son, Mark J. Lucas, along with her sister Catherine Willman and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Betty is predeceased by her siblings; Joseph, David E. III, Theodore, Charles, Daisy, Fern, Beatrice, Elmira and Florence. She is also predeceased by her beloved dog, Dutch.

Visitation with family and friends will be held on Friday, July 5, 2024 from 10:00am to 11:00am, with services beginning at 11:00am at Lutz Funeral Home, 2100 Perkiomen Avenue Reading, PA 19606.
