Lee Richard Bierly

Lee Richard Bierly, 89,a resident of Walnut Woods-Boyertown passed away December 22, 2012 in Pottstown Memorial Medical Center. He was the widower of Josephine Bartholomew Bierly who passed away July 12, 2006 and with whom he shared 59 years of marriage. Born in Milton, Northumberland County, PA he was a son of the late Dr. James N. and Grace (Millward) Bierly. Lee was a graduate of Kutztown High School, a graduate of Kutztown University with a B.S.Degree in Education and a graduate of Temple University with a M.S. Degree in Educational Leadership and a Principals Certificate. Lee was a teacher and middle school principal in the Antietam School District for 35 years, where he also coached their Basketball, Soccer and Golf Teams, retiring in 1982. Lee was a World War II veteran serving in the United States Navy attaining the rank of Lt. (jg). He attended Fried ens U.C.C. in Oley, was a volunteer for St. Joseph Medical Center and an avid golfer. Lee is survived by: Two Sons: Lee Randolph Bierly husband of Debra of Shillington and Gregory Alan Bierly of Bangor; One Daughter: Pamela B. (Bierly) wife of Paul Herb of Oley; Five Grandchildren: Karl, Rachel, David, Caitlin and Laura; Two Great-Grandchildren: Aydan and Grayson; One Brother: Boyd Bierly of Hershey. He was predeceased by two brothers: William and James. Memorial Services will be held at Friedens U.C.C. 337 Main Street Oley, PA 19547 on Friday December 28th, 2012 at 12:00 noon. Friends may call from11:00 amto12:00 noon. Interment private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Friedens U.C.C. at the above stated address.
