Valma Josephine (Bigg) Billings, 88, formerly of Exeter Township, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2016 in Berks Heim. She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband, Gerard J. Billings who passed away January 10, 2008. Born on January 1, 1928 in Brisbane, Australia, she was a daughter of the late Oswald G.H. and Evelyn F. (Wood) Bigg. Valma was a war bride during WWII, emigrating to the U.S. from Australia in 1944. She oversaw her children's homework for years and was proud of receiving her G.E.D. from R.A.C.C. years later. She became a U.S. Citizen in 1992 in Berks County. Valma was a member of St. Catharine of Siena R.C.C.-Exeter Township where she enjoyed volunteering, especially at hospitality Sunday. She enjoyed playing dominos, neighborhood cards parties and her favorite pastime was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She worked in the office for Borsch Dress Factory in Australia and then for Gruman's Aircraft on Long Island. She is survived by her son, Patrick M. Billings, and significant other Marie Howe, Las Vegas, NV; daughter, Evelyn F. (Billings) wife of Bruce Weidenhammer of Birdsboro; daughter, Theresa K. (Billings) wife of J. Preston Thomas, II of Hockessin, DE; son, Michael T. Billings of Exeter Twp; son, Timothy M. Billings husband of Natalie of Yardley; son, Daniel P. Billings husband of Holly of Bernville. She is further survived by 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 9:00-10:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 1, 2016 in St. Catharine of Siena Chapel, 2427 Perkiomen Ave., Reading, PA 19606.
