John Alan Boyer of Oley, PA, known as "Alan" to his family and friends, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2022 at Promedica Laureldale Center.
Alan was born on November 24, 1936 and was the son of Carlton and Mabel (Fritz) Boyer.
He was a 1954 graduate of Shillington High School.
He was predeceased by his brothers Carl Boyer, David Boyer and sister Barbara Ann Waldroup.
He is also survived by his wife of 54 years, Anna Lee Boyer.
Alan is also survived by his nieces, Anne Hill, wife of Charles Hill of Chambersburg Pennsylvania, Jennifer O'Brien, wife of Dan O'Brien of Sinking Spring Pennsylvania, Rebecca Miller of North Carolina, and nephew David Alan Boyer, husband of Teddy Boyer, of France.
Alan worked as a printer at the Fairy Silk Mills of Shillington and as a store manager at Iron Horse (formerly Haines) Hobby House in Reading. He then became a self-employed printer, know as "The Country Craftsman" where he made note cards and sports programs for many people in the local area.
Throughout his career, he also was a painter, with his favorite subjects being covered bridges, historical homes, and other local rustic scenery. Alan's paintings could be seen at restaurants and other places in the local area.
Alan could always be seen at the Oley Fair every September at his Country Craftsman stand, and helped to judge several events at the fair. It was his favorite weekend every year. He also loved cats, and took in many cats over the years to give them a loving home.
