Brooke M. Boyer, 73, passed away at Willowbrook Nursing Facility on January 15th, 2024. We are so very grateful for their attention and compassion.
Brooke was the son of Janet (nee Focht) Boyer and Charles A. Boyer. He was a 1968 graduate of Reading Central Catholic High School, where he played football and excelled in track, winning a state championship title in low hurdles. Brooke graduated from LaSalle College in 1973 and Villanova School of Law in 1976.
Brooke's life was forever changed in 1972 after a motor vehicle accident. After a year of recuperation, he completed college and went on to law school while facing challenges due to barriers to handicap accessibility. Never shying away from challenge, Brooke defied the odds and became a devoted attorney, practicing for 35 years. He was even instrumental in advocating for the Berks County Courthouses to achieve Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance.
Brooke loved music-from classical and folk to rock and roll. He enjoyed attending the Philadelphia Folk Festival and countless concerts throughout his life. He loved Philadelphia sports and was a steadfast fan. Brooke was always up for fishing trips in Stone Harbor, Avalon, and later years the Chesapeake Bay. He was a proud owner of Bowl O Rama; Inc. Brooke was an avid reader and recited English and American literature at any and every opportunity. His last words to his family were "To be or not to be...and I chose to be."
Brooke is survived by his siblings; JoAnne Snyder of Philadelphia, PA, and David C. Boyer, husband of Nancy P. Boyer, of Charleston, SC. He is also survived by his nieces, Leah, Allie, and Jill, as well as his great niece, Sadie, and his great nephews, Griffin and Andrew.
Private services are to be held by the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, kindly save the handicap parking spaces for those who need them. Lutz Funeral Home, Inc., is in charge of arrangements. For online condolences, please visit www.LutzFuneralHome.com.
