Marian A. Brooks, 96, formerly of Mt. Penn, passed away Saturday, May 10th, 2014 in the Mifflin Center. She was the widow of Verne H. Brooks who passed away April 7, 1995. Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Mamie (Berkheiser) Sterner. Marian was a graduate of Reading High School and a member of Trinity U.C.C. Mt. Penn where she was a volunteer for many years in the Food Pantry. For over thirty years she delivered Meals on Wheels and was active in Senior Citizens of Mount Penn and the Mount Penn Woman’s Club. She and her husband loved driving; taking over 50 trips touring the United States. She was also an avid Phillies fan. Her family was most important to her, and she was very proud of her grandchildren. Marian is survived by: her three children, Barbara (Brooks) wife of Ralph Haag of Reiffton, Robert Brooks of Reading, and Phyllis (Brooks) wife of Clinton Dean Jr. of Catonsville, MD; grandchildren: Michelle wife of Tony Howe of Dillsburg, PA, Stephanie wife of Jay Foraker of Annapolis, MD, Michael Haag husband of Jennifer Cordes of Woodbury, NJ and Rebecca wife of Nicholas Jankowski of Catonsville, MD; great-grandchildren: Matt Howe, Eric and Jonathan Foraker, Ashleigh, Jeremiah and Samantha Jankowski. She was pre-deceased by her brother, Frank Sterner. Services and interment private at the request of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ, 2449 Cumberland Ave. Reading, PA 19606 for the Food Pantry. Lutz Funeral Home, Inc.
