Walter R. Brown
My Dad-Walter Richard “Dick” Brown
Parents-Walter E. and Bertha E. (Buehrer) Brown. Dad was born April 3, 1926 and died June 13, 2015. A graduate from Mt. Penn High School and retired from the Wyomissing Paper in 1990 after being employed for 44 years as a maintenance man. Dick was a veteran of the United States Navy during World War II. He was an avid union man and lifelong member of the Reiffton Fire Company. Dick is survived by his children: Gale Louise Faber longtime companion of Harold J. Blew of St. Lawrence and Richard A. Brown; Four Grandchildren: Heather L. Faber longtime companion of James C. Lovins, Jr. of Auburn, PA, Douglas M. Faber husband of Jill of Exeter Township; Ryan C. Brown husband of Amanda of Reading and Justin M. Brown of Reiffton; Eight Great-Grandchildren: Samantha Dease, Elizabeth Dease, Nathan Faber, Christopher Faber, Alexia Faber, Gabriel Brown, Ethan and Zak Brown and Two Brothers: Roger N. Brown husband of Maryann and Neil A. Brown both of Reiffton. He was pre-deceased by a granddaughter: Courtney Lynn Brown. Dick was dearly loved and was a generous, caring, kind, patient, fun loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His hearty laugh was priceless and quite infectious and will be greatly missed. He loved playing accordion in his early years in the Jim Eaton Band and even throughout his life. His love of military service in the Navy during World War II was something he cherished and remained proud of his whole life. He loved trains: steam, diesel, it didn’t matter, he rode them all and took many, many, train trips across the United States, not to mention the unlimited train excursions he shared with all the children in the family. He looked forward to Tuesdays, for every Tuesday Night he would spend with his two brothers conversing on many subjects. He loved being outdoors, doing yardwork, his rocking chair on his porch, his cigars, but most of all he loved his family and we loved him. Dad said don’t dress up when you come to see him, be casual and be yourself cause his is being himself. Visitation with family and friends will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. with services beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2015 in the Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. 2100 Perkiomen Ave. Mt. Penn.
