Fern Byers

Fern A. Byers, 91, of Exeter Township, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2017 in Penn State Health-St. Joseph Medical Center. She was the widow of P. Franklin Byers who passed away October 19, 1999. Born in Exeter Township, she was a daughter of the late Edmund H. and Beulah S. (Conrad) Wentzel. Fern was a member of Community U.C.C.-St. Lawrence and was a member of the Berks County Rose Society having won many awards. She worked at John Conrad's Keystone Store in Shillington as well as a caregiver for many of her family members. Fern is survived by her cousin, Calvin D. "Skip" Conrad husband of Linda; two nieces, Linda Frederick and Elaine Briner; her dog, Reesie as well as other family members and friends. Visitation with family and friends will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2017 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. with services beginning at 10:30 a.m. in the Lutz Funeral Home, Inc., 2100 Perkiomen Ave., Reading, PA 19606.
