Christine L. Kilyan

August 30, 1961 — February 5, 2024

Christine L. (Averell) Kilyan, 62, of Exeter Township, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Robert J. Kilyan, with whom she celebrated 39 years of marriage. Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late William and Eunice Ann (Montgomery) Averell. Christine graduated from the Philadelphia High School For Girls, and continued her education, earning her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from East Stroudsburg University, and her Master of Arts Degree in Public Administration from Temple University. Christine worked as a social worker for the Philadelphia Department of Human Services for many years. She was a stay at home mom for a while to raise her children, and went back to work as a BSC for ViaQuest, and then later as a reading aid for Jacksonwald Elementary School.


In addition to her husband, Christine is survived by her son Robert W. Kilyan, of Exeter, her daughter Angela M. Kilyan, of Exeter, her younger sister Deborah and her Husband Bryan Renz, and her nephew Nicholas. She was preceded in death by her younger sister Shelly Taylor.


Visitation with family and friends will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2024 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, with a memorial service beginning at 12:00 pm at Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. 2100 Perkiomen Avenue, Reading, PA 19606. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Animal Rescue League of Berks County at 58 Kennel Rd, Birdsboro, PA 19508 (610) 373-8830. Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
