Michael J. Ciabattoni

Michael J. Ciabattoni, 62, of Shillington, passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2019, in his home surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Caroline M. (Reinsel) Ciabattoni, his children, Stephanie R., of Philadelphia and Jeffrey R., of Shillington, as well as his brother, Dr. Greg A. Bowman (husband of Kay) of Pueblo, Colorado. Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Henry J. Ciabattoni and Jacqueline A. (Harrison) Chambers. Michael graduated from Exeter High School in 1974. He was a member of the basketball team that won two Berks County Championships, and finished as runner-up in the 1974 State Championship. Michael went on to attend PGA School and became a well-known figure in the Berks County golf community, where he spent his career as a teaching professional. After retirement, Michael enjoyed spending his winters in Jupiter, FL, frequenting the Italian Market in South Philadelphia, and cooking for his friends and family. Michael was a member of St. John Baptist De La Salle RCC in Shillington. Visitation with family and friends will be held on Monday, January 7, 2019, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Lutz Funeral Home Inc., 2100 Perkiomen Ave, Reading. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at 10:00 am in St. John Baptist De La Salle, 42 Kerrick Rd., Shillington, PA 19607. Interment in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Douglassville, will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John Baptist De La Salle, 42 Kerrick Rd. Shillington, PA 19607.
