David M. Shirk Jr.

David M. Shirk Jr., 85, of Mohnton, PA, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2023 at Wyomissing Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of the late Darlene E. (Trostle) Shirk. Born in Lancaster, PA, he was the son of the late David M. Shirk Sr., and Bertha (Wiker) Shirk. David proudly served his country in the United States Army as an Expert (Rifle - M1). He worked on a farm, at Grace Mines, and lastly retiring from Morgan Trailer where he was a welder. David loved horses and antique cars.

David is survived by his step-daughter Dawn Stanley, and step-son Ronald Stanley, husband of Brenda Stanley. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Timothy Stanley, husband of Jennifer, Jamie Burns, wife of Chad, Tiffany James, Keith Stanley, and Amanda Powell, as well as his great-grandchildren; Alexia Knapp, Jordan Burns, Dylan Burns, Alexander James, Thomas James, Keith Stanley, Joseph Stanley, his sister Susan Stauffer, wife of Joseph, and his sister-in-laws, Linda Shirk, and Paula Shirk. David was preceded in death by his siblings; George W., and Robert, Ruth Reifsnyder, Shirley Dull, and his step-son Rodger Stanley.

Visitation with family and friends will be held on Friday, October 20, 2023 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with services beginning at 11:00 am at Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. 2100 Perkiomen Avenue, Reading PA 19606. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park, 391 Neversink Road, Reiffton, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N.
