David Jay Sockel, 72, of Wyomissing, formerly of Mt. Penn, passed away on Monday, July 29, 2024 at Complete Care at Berkshire, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Michelle Denise (Zins) Sockel, who was also his best friend. Born in Reading, PA, he was the son of the late Jay B. and Geraldine T. (Meshinsky) Sockel. David attended plumbing school where he received a Master License. He was the owner and operator of D.J. Sockel, Inc. for many years. In his retirement, David worked as the plumber for St. Joseph Hospital. He was a member of St. Catharine of Siena R.C.C. and Masters Association for Plumbers.
In addition to his wife Michelle, David is survived by his daughters; Colette D. Joseph, wife of Joshua, and Stacey Sockel. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Graham, Quinn, Foster, and Cecily, as well as his brothers; James B. Sockel, John R. Sockel, and Jay A. Sockel.
Visitation with family and friends will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at Lutz Funeral Home, Inc., 2100 Perkiomen Avenue, Reading, PA 19606. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am at St. Catharine of Siena R.C.C., 4975 Boyertown Pike, Reading, PA 19606. Interment will be held at Gethsemane Cemetery, 3139 Kutztown Road, Reading, PA 19605.
