Doris Petri

December 21, 1932 — September 27, 2023

Doris Lois Petri, Age 90, of Richmond, Texas entered into eternal rest on September 27, 2023.  She resided at The Residences at River Park West / Assisted Living Personal Care Home in Richmond, Texas.

She was the loving wife of 61 years to the late Manfred (Fritz) Arthur Petri before he passed away on December 08, 2020.

Born in Homeopathic Hospital, Reading, Berks County, PA, she was the daughter of the late George Frank Johnson, who was born in Reading, Berks County, PA and Ida May (Potteiger) Johnson, who was born in Reading, Berks County, PA.

Doris attended Mt. Penn High School and was in the graduating class of 1950.  She was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict, attaining the rank of A/1C, working as a Stenographer, serving at McChord Air Force Base in Washington and Hamilton Air Force base in California.  She took her basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX.

She worked as a bookkeeper for Merritt Lumber & Home Center for 24 years before moving to Richmond, Texas in 1988, where she was the Bookkeeper for Robert S. Abrasley, CPA for 14 years.  She last worked for Andrew Shebay, Certified Public Accountants in Houston, Texas until she retired in 2002.

She was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church, Rosenberg, Texas.  She enjoyed being involved in The Women’s Church sewing circle making quilts to send to our Military troops each Christmas.

Surviving are three children:  Julie L. (Petri) Summerville, wife of Tony Summerville, Richmond, Texas; Arthur L. Petri, husband of Natsumi Petri, Windcrest, Texas; and Sheila G. Petri, wife of Leslie Sabold, Birdsboro, PA; Nine surviving grandchildren:  Cassandra L. (Summerville) Grajeda, wife of Joel Grajeda of Katy, Texas;  Nichelle L. (Summerville) Kahleh, wife of Richard Kahleh, Jr. of Bellville, Texas; Nathaniel L. Petri of Las Vegas, Nevada; Shawn J. Petri of Reifenberg, Germany; Michelle Risa (Petri) Chamberlain, wife of Steven Chamberlain of Okinawa, Japan;  Tristan R. Keller, husband of Karren Alvaran, of Reading, PA; Taylor A.  Keller of Stowe, PA; Bryce H. Keller, husband of Amber Keller of Birdsboro, PA; Brennan P. Keller, Fiance of Ben Palochak of Kutztown, PA.

She was predeceased by; her brother Markley Allen Johnson in 1975; her sister Ethel Irene (Johnson) Faust in 2017; her sister Peggy Ann (Johnson) Petri in 2023; and her grandson Michael Petri in 2018.  She is survived by one sister Jeannette Joan (Johnson) Chance of Oak Ridge, TN.

Visitation with family and friends will be held on Friday October 6 at  Lutz Funeral Home, 2100 Perkiomen Avenue Reading, Pa 19606 from 10:00am to 11:00 a.m.  Memorial Service to follow at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Reverend Mark E. Brophy.  Interment to follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park, 391 Neversink Road, Reiffton, PA. Lutz Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
