Charles "Duke" Eckenroth

Charles "Duke" Eckenroth, 85, of Reading, passed away on Friday, June 23, 2023, in his residence. He was the husband of Anna Eckenroth (McDonough) with whom he shared 62 years of marriage. Born in Reading, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Louis Eckenroth and Edna King (Ginger). Charles enjoyed a long career as a Lieutenant at the Berks County Prison for many years until his retirement. He was also a member of the Deputy Warden Association.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Jay Eckenroth, husband of Karen, of Bernville, Sherry Leonti of Fleetwood, and Deneen Folk, wife of Robert of Oley. Charles is also survived by 7 grandchildren; Loren, Jayme, Maranda, Sam, Ashley, Shannon, and Bobbie, along with 3 step grandchildren, Cody, Samantha and Tyler. Also surviving are his 10 great grand children; Julian, Sophia, Mia, Tru, Wyatt, Jace, Anthony, Steven, Teagan, and Elena, and 1 great grand child, Antonio. Charles is also survived by his siblings; Paul Jr, Paula, Nancy, and Carolyn. Charles was preceded in death by his brother Wimpy, his sister, Sis, and 2 children.

Visitation with family and friends will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm with services beginning at 12:00 pm in Zion Spies Evangelical Lutheran Church 310 Spies Church Road Reading, PA 19606.
