Maurice E. "Dutch" Eschbach, Jr., 88, of Amity Township, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017 in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center. He was the widower of Dolores E. "Dolly" (Kuser) Eschbach who passed away December 13, 2003. Born in Pottstown, he was a son of the late Maurice E., Sr. and Eleanor S. (Dinkelocker) Eschbach. Maurice was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War and was a member of St. Paul's U.C.C.-Amityville. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, the Monarch and Amity Fire Companies and loved to mow his grass. Maurice served as the chief of police for Amity Township for many years until his retirement. He is survived by one daughter, Kerry A. Drey of Birdsboro; one granddaughter, Lauren A. Drey fiance of Corey Buller of Royersford and one brother, Paul Eschbach husband of Lynn of Birdsboro as well as many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by seven siblings. Visitation with family and friends will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 from 9:30-11:00 a.m. with services beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the Lutz Funeral Home, Inc., 2100 Perkiomen Ave. Reading, PA 19606.
