Gerald D. Eshelman, 87, of Exeter, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021, in Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center. He was the loving husband of Helen A. (Wagner) Eshelman of Exeter with whom he celebrated 63 years of marriage. Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Warren and Janet (Pfeily) Eshelman. Gerald was a graduate of Muhlenberg High School and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Gerald was a lifelong Notre Dame fan and had a true passion for bowling. He was a Past President of the Reading Bowling Association where he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1995. Gerald worked at Firestone for 29 years until his retirement. After retirement he worked for Narrow Fabric for 15 years.
He is survived by Penny Snyder wife of John, Leesport, Sandra Fegley, wife of Robert, Exeter, Cindy Gehris wife of Mark, Exeter. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Kristy, Jordan, Shaun, Alexis, Jenna, Nathan and one great grandchild Hendrix. Gerald was pre deceased by one son Brian D. and his siblings; Richard, Ruth, Gayle, Terrance.
Visitation with family and friends will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2021 from 9:00 am to 10:30 am in Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. 2100 Perkiomen Ave, Mt. Penn 19606. Service is private. Interment will be at Spies-Zion Cemetery, Alsace Township. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Pauls Lutheran Church, 1559 Perkiomen Ave, Reading Pa 19602.
