Gary L. Winterhalter, 68, of Exeter Township, passed away on Friday, January 17, 2025 at the Mifflin Center, Cumru Township. Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Jesse Lee and Jane Nancy (Lewis) Winterhalter. Gary graduated from Exeter High School in 1975, where he was on the track and field team, and went on to further his education at Penn State Berks. Throughout high school and college, he worked for various companies, including Dairy King, Exeter Treatment Plant, and Boscov's Garden Center. He was a member of Schwarzwald Lutheran Church, and enjoyed going on trips through the church. Gary always had fun going to different activity centers and playing BINGO. He loved all sports, especially all the Philly Teams. Gary was an animal lover and a kind hearted person, with a memory that impressed everyone around him.
Gary is survived by his sister Nancy A. Swoyer, of Birdsboro, his niece Tara (Shunk) Lyng, wife of John, of Phoenixville, and his dear friends Miriam and David, with whom Gary lived for many years. He was preceded in death by his brother Robert M. Winterhalter.
Visitation with family and friends will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025 from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm, with services beginning at 12:00 pm at Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. 2100 Perkiomen Avenue, Reading, PA 19606. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park, 390 W Neversink Road, Reading, PA 19606. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to All 4 Paws Rescue, P.O.
