Russell L. Gechter

Russell L. "Jake" Gechter, 75, of Exeter Township, passed away May 17, 2016 in his residence. Born in Reading on July 16, 1940, he was a son of the late Charles H. and Virginia V. (Gehring) Gechter. Jake was employed by Cabot Performance Metals in Boyertown for over 30 years until his retirement. He was a member of Stonersville, Reiffton and Amity Fire Companies, Stony Creek AA, Pike Township Sportsman's Club and many others. He loved racing, going to the fire companies for beers, gardening in his vegetable garden, taking care of his chickens, watching Family Feud and spending time with his family. Jake is survived by: four daughters: Robin wife of Michael Chamuras, Renee Miller fiance of Patrick Weidman, Rebecca Gechter companion of Todd Hinnershitz and Jenny Kramlich all of Exeter Township; seven grandchildren: Derek, Freddy, Erich, Zack, Logan, Carly and Saige and one brother: Marty Gechter. He was pre-deceased by a granddaughter Jolyn and a brother, Samuel. The family will receive friends from 9:30-11:00 a.m. with services beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 23, 2016 in the Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. 2100 Perkiomen Ave. Mt. Penn.
