Marvine O. "Mo" Gerhart, 86, of Wyomissing, passed away, Monday, June 4, 2018 in Country Meadows Retirement Communities. She was the wife of William A. Gerhart for 63 years. Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Henry W. and Sarah M. (Labe) Shaffer.
Mo was a graduate of Mt. Penn High School in 1950. She was a "can do" person, an avid bridge player and spent most of her working years as a secretary. Mo was a teacher's aide for special education students and was very active in a local mental retardation charity organization. She was creative and spent much of her talent making craft items, ceramics, tole painting and taught classes in pine cone wreath making. Amongst other things, she also was Queen Mother of a local Red Hat chapter and was very involved in church activities. All who knew her remember her as a fun loving outgoing person who always spoke her mind.
Marvine is survived by her two sons, Michael (Gabrielle) and Scott (Tammy) and two sisters Geraldine Maurer and Marilyn Jacoby (Jay) and six grandchildren Robert, Tyler, Timothy, Kyle, Sydney and Kristin. She is predeceased by one daughter Wendy.
Visitation with family and friends will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2018 from 10:00 am -11:00 am with services beginning at 11:00 am in the Lutz Funeral Home, Inc., 2100 Perkiomen Avenue, Reading, PA 19606.
