Joseph L Gombar

Joseph "Chewy" Lawrence Gombar, 96, of North Coventry Township, passed away on Monday, June 12, 2023, in Reading Hospital. Born in Saint Clair, PA, he was the son of the late Stephen and Anna (Cherba) Gombar. He was a graduate of Reading High School, and went on to proudly serve his country in The United States Army. Joseph worked as a maintenance mechanic at Firestone for many years until his retirement.

Joseph is survived by his sisters-in-law Sylvia Gombar, NC, and Judy Gombar, Reading, his brother-in-law John Karahuta, Reading, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings; Elmer Gombar, Anna Karahuta, Stephen Gombar, Melhart Gombar, and Eugene Gombar.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 beginning at 11:00 am in Gethsemane Cemetery 3139 Kutztown Road Reading, Pennsylvania 19605. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105. Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
