Mary Margaret Grebe, 90, formerly of Stony Creek, passed away Tuesday August 20, 2018 in Spruce Manor, West Reading. She was born in Reading on January 30, 1928 to Louis Fred Grebe, MD, and Gertrude Brown Grebe. Miss Grebe's father was one of the founding physicians at Reading Hospital. Her grandparents were Louis R. Thun and Anna Marie Grebe Thun of Wyomissing and Margaret and Joseph Brown of Reading. In 1945, Mary graduated from Lankenau School for Girls in Philadelphia and attended Albright College. She was an avid volunteer at Reading Hospital and for many years organized the used book booth at their annual garden party; in addition, she was office manager for the medical practice of Lucille Tucker-Green, MD. She lived most of her life in Stony Creek Mills, a community founded by her family who owned and operated a mill that manufactured wool and wool garments (Louis Kraemer & Co.) near the site of her historic family home. Miss Grebe is survived by her cousins David Thun, Victoria Guthrie, and Noel (Chip) Karasin, all of the Reading area. Visitation with friends and family will be held on Monday August 27, 2018 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with services beginning at 11:00 am in Lutz Funeral Home, 2100 Perkiomen Ave., Reading.
