David J. Hafer

David J. Hafer, 83, of Exeter Township, passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2021, in Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center. He was the husband of Eleanor B. (Uliasz) Hafer. Born in Sinking Spring, PA, he was the son of the late David A. and Julia E. (Lutz) Hafer. Dave was a 1956 graduate of Mount Penn High School and was a member of St. Catharine of Siena R.C.C.--Exeter Township. He was very proud of his golfing accomplishments; Berks Co. Jr. Champion 1955-56, Reading Jaycees Champion 1955, and Berks Co. Champion/Optimist Champion 1955. Dave was also a member of the Reading Country Club, and was Media Heights Club Champion in 1962. He was a proud member of the Army Reserve. Dave worked for EcoLab in the Eastern US for 38 years retiring in 1996 as the VP of Sales.

In addition to his wife, David is survived by one son David J. Hafer, Jr. (Kiersten), Skippack; three daughters Susan P. Kern (Michael), Exeter, Amy J. Lavender (Jon), Ft. Myers, FL, Mary Beth Smith (Kyle), Blandon; 11 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister Patricia J. Reeder (Rodney), Wyomissing

Visitation with family and friends will be held on Friday, October 29, 2021 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11:00 am in St. Catharine of Siena R.C.C., 4975 Boyertown Pike Reading, PA 19606. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Catharine of Siena R.C.C., Memorial Fund, 2427 Perkiomen Ave., Reading, PA 19606.
