Geraldine M "Jerri" Hafer

Geraldine M. "Jerri" Hafer, 87, of Reading, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2021, in her home. She was the wife of the late Elton Hafer. Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Cyrus Sr. and Carrie (Hornberger) Gerhart. Jerri went to Mt. Penn High School and was a member of Alsace Lutheran Church. She was the most kind, caring, compassionate and forgiving person you'd ever want to meet. When she told you she loved you, she truly meant it. She brought joy and happiness to everyone she met. A true angel on earth. Her family meant absolutely everything to her. She never missed sending a birthday card. She loved playing cards and board games. Jerri worked, among other places, at Berks County Association for the Blind as a secretary for many years and lastly at Manderbach Ford as a part-time file clerk.

Jerri is survived by: daughters; Amy, wife of Andrew Miller of Wernersville, Sandra, wife of Jan Custer of Rockland Township and son Alan, husband of Terry Hafer of Delaware. She is survived by seven grandchildren: Nathan, husband of Christine Hess, Andrew Miller Jr., Cecilia, wife of R.J. Castaneda, Jason, husband of Daria Custer, Keath Bennetch Jr., companion of Carrie, Shawn, husband of Laura Tobias and Alex, husband of Ashley Hafer, as well as many great-grandchildren. Jerri is also survived by sisters: Trudy, wife of Albert Beidler, Linda Gerhart and brother Ralph, husband of Lorraine Gerhart, sisters-in-law Gracie Walter and Jeanette Meister and brother-in-law Raymond Hafer Jr. She is predeceased by her sister Kathryn Seidel and brothers Richard, John "Snap" and Cyrus "Junior" Gerhart.

Visitation with family and friends will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am with services beginning at 10:00 am in Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. 2100 Perkiomen Avenue Reading, Pa 19606. Interment will be at Forest Hills Memorial Park, Exeter Township. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Alsace Lutheran Church 2201 Kutztown Rd. Reading Pa 19605.
