Richard L. Harpel, 86, of Robeson Township, passed away Sunday, January 20th, 2013 in the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania with his family by his side. He was the husband of Mary J. (Timm) Harpel. Born in Sinking Spring, he was a son of the late Richard L. Sr., and Marie H. (Cake) Harpel. In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by: Two Daughters: Patricia L. wife of William Welsh and Julia M. wife of Terry Rhoads both of Robeson Township; Three Grandchildren: Joel husband of Alycne, Billi wife of Brent and Aaron husband of Sarah; Six Great-Grandchildren: Eli, Caleb, Wyatt, Jude, Colin and Fionn and One Sister: Betty Root. He was pre-deceased by his sisters: Mary Fritz and Edna Barth. Richard was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II and served on board the USS New York. He was a yard engineer for Grace Mines for many years and then wor ked for Bethlehem Steel in York until his retirement. Memorial Services will be held in the Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday, February 1st, 2013 at 7:00 pm. Friends may call from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Interment private at the convenience of the family.
