Harvey A. Snyder

Harvey A. Snyder, 84, of Reading, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, December 27, 2024, in the Reading Hospital. He was the husband of Rosalie A. (Olshefsky) Snyder, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage. Born in Reading, he was the son of the late H. Allen and Helen (Domin) Snyder. Harvey graduated from Reading Central Catholic High School in 1957, Reading Business Institute with his Associate's Degree in 1959, and Ursinus College with his Bachelor's Degree in Accounting in 1977. He worked as a corporate accountant for many years, including for Cabot, Sony, and All-Phase Electric until his retirement. Harvey was a longtime active member of St. Catharine of Siena R.C.C. Reading, PA as well as their 50+ Club where he often volunteered his financial experience. In his earlier years Harvey was proud to race sports cars with Team Tortoise and was a member of The Flying Dutchmen Ski Club.

In addition to his wife, Harvey is survived by his son, Brett, husband of Jason Forman, of Washington, D.C., and his daughter, Cory, wife of Todd Hoffard, of Lititz, PA. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jansen and Bella; his brothers, Frederick and John; and his sister, Joyce Salvatore. Harvey was an uncle to several nieces and nephews and a lifelong friend to many.

Dad achieved each role as husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend with integrity, humility and love. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

Visitation and viewing with family and friends will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm with Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 3:30 pm at St. Catharine of Siena R.C.C. 4975 Boyertown Pike, Reading, PA 19606. Interment will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025, at 10:00 am at Gethsemane Cemetery, Chapel of St. George, Laureldale, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in the name of Harvey Snyder to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
