Mary Heim

Mary Heim, 93, formerly of Temple, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 in Berks Heim. She was the widow of Carl A. Heim who passed away November 7, 2000. Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Emma (Ludwig) Messer. Mary was a graduate of Reading High School in 1940 and was a member of Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church-Tuckerton. Mary worked as a private secretary to the Merchandise Manager at Pomeroy’s for 10 years. She worked 7 years as a Desk Clerk/Telephone Operator at the YMCA. Finally she was a Secretary/Bookkeeper for Aluminum Bldg. Products and Industrial Plywood for 20 years. She was a volunteer for the Help Hotline of Community General Hospital for 28 years. She received the Harry W. Frantz award given to a volunteer who devoted a significant amount of time and service to the hospital. Another award was received from B’nai B’rith for volunteering and an award from West Berks Mission District for love and concern for congregation, community and humanity. Mary was also the past president of the Auxiliary 23 of Community General Hospital. She is survived by: One Son: Michael A. Heim husband of Sheryl of Shillington and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her siblings Thomas A Messer, Joanne L. Cleres and Evelyne M. Miller. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 A.M. with services beginning at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 in the Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. Mount Penn. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton, PA. We would like to thank the staff on A-2 at Berks Heim for their excellent and loving care.
