Maria B. Henry (Kohlberger)

Maria (Betty) Henry, 92, of Birdsboro, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 21st, 2013 in The Hearthstone at Amity where she resided for the last year. She was well cared for by Caring Hospice Services. Born in Yonkers, NY she was a daughter of the late Carl and Maria (Exner) Kohlberger. She married Lewis S. Henry in 1943, who passed away in 1986.
Maria was a graduate of Cornell University in 1943 with a B.S. in Botany and Physics. Maria was a chemist for Esso now Exxon for several years and then was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church-Birdsboro. She gave many years as a faithful volunteer to her church.
Maria is survived by: Son, Michael Henry husband of Susan L. of Birdsboro ; Daughter: Susan H. wife of Robert Tucci of Birdsboro; and Stepson Roger Henry of Cape May, NJ; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
She will be remembered for her kindness, gracefulness, and gentle, loving soul. Maria enjoyed spending many wonderful times with her family and friends at her vacation home on the outer banks of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina.
Memorial Services will be held in St. Mark’s Lutheran Church 5 Brooke Manor Birdsboro, PA 19508, Saturday July 27, 2013 11:00 a.m., the church will be open at 10:30. In Lieu of Flowers, contributions may be made to the Boone Area Library 129 N. Mill St. Birdsboro, PA 19508 or St. Mark’s Lutheran Church Scholarship Fund at the above stated address.
