Henry P. Skowron

Henry P. Skowron, 77, of Exeter Township, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2023 in Reading Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Henry fought a courageous battle to the very end. He was the husband of Mary Jane (Pizzuto) Skowron, with whom he celebrated 54 years of marriage. Born in Hamelin, Germany, he was the son of the late Konstanty and Kazimiera (Silka) Skowron. Henry graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1964. He proudly served his country in The United States Army during the Vietnam War. During his years of service, Henry was awarded a Silver Star and a Purple Heart. Henry was a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service for 30 plus years until his retirement. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, loved to be outdoors and travel. Henry truly was a jack of all trades.

In addition to his wife, Henry is survived by his children; Michele, wife of Brian Lauer, Bernadette, widow of Keith Strahin, and Peter Skowron. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Marina Lauer, ("The Apple of his Eye") and his sister Elizabeth, wife of Dennis Chioli.

Visitation with family and friends will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Lutz Funeral Home, Inc., 2100 Perkiomen Avenue Reading PA, 19606. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 6, 2023 beginning at 11:00 am at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 250 S. 12th Street Reading PA, 19602. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, 3139 Kutztown Road Reading, PA 19605.
