Dale R Hess, 81, of Exeter township passed away peacefully on Thursday December 22, 2022 with his twin daughters by his side. He was predeceased by his loving wife Gale on February 21, 2019, whom he was married to for 58 years.
Born on August 16, 1941, to parents LeRoy and Luella (Wisser) Hess of Wyomissing, Dale grew up on his parents steer farm located where the Berkshire Mall currently is. After graduating from Wilson High School in 1959 he went on to study plumbing at the Local Plumbers Union 690 and proudly became Philadelphia’s 11th Master Plumber. He went on to work for Corbitt’s Plumbing and eventually owned and operated Diversified Mechanical Inc with shops in Reading, Philadelphia and Allentown.
Dale was a shortstop and first baseman for the Reading Country Club Stables baseball team and an avid golfer. He became the club’s 1998 Match Play Eighth Flight Winner and the President’s Cup D division winner. He loved golfing with his grandsons Dale and Joshua, participating in car shows and corvette runs with the Skyline Drive Corvette Club with Kim and Brett, going to the barn to see Robyn and Tucker’s horses and going to Amish country and dinner with his best friend Margaret “Sis” Bates of Wyomissing.
Dale is survived by his twin daughters Robyn Dale, wife of Tucker Mengel and Kimberly Gale, wife of Brett Osborne, his grandsons Dale Joshua Mengel, husband of Alexa Casner Mengel, Joshua Brett Osborne and his girlfriend Olivia Shaak, and his great granddaughter Rylie Harper Mengel, all of Exeter Township, his sister Margaret Levan of Hamburg and his Pomeranian Lola. He was predeceased by his sisters Lucille Fegley and Florence Kistler and his brother Darwin Hess.
