M. Hess

M. Arlene Hess, 93, of St. Lawrence, passed away Saturday, February 13th, 2016 in Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center. She was the widow of C. Robert Hess. Born in Exeter Township, she was a daughter of the late Lester H. and Eva M. (Pott) Quinter. Arlene was a 1940 graduate of Mt. Penn High School. After high school, she became a homemaker and also enjoyed making crafts, vacationing at the shore, and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of Schwarzwald Lutheran Church and an honorary member of the Woman’s Club of St. Lawrence. Arlene is survived by: daughter: Nancy A. Hess-Smith wife of David A. Smith of St. Lawrence and son: Robert L. Hess of Lancaster; granddaughters: Lauren C. Smith and Erin C. Owens. She was pre-deceased by her brother: Raymond L. Quinter. A graveside service will be held in Schwarzwald Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 19th followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. in Schwarzwald Lutheran Church, 250 Church Lane Road, Reading, PA 19606. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Schwarzwald Lutheran Church at the above address or Berks Encore--Meals on Wheels Program, 40 N. 9th Street, Reading, PA 19601.
