Martin W. Hill

Martin W. Hill, 96, of Stony Creek passed away September 8th, 2013 in St. Joseph Medical Center. He was the husband of Anna V. (Nowatarski). Born in Stony Creek he was a son of Martin L. and Laura D. (Wentzel) Hill. Martin was a life long member of Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church and a member of the United States Navy during World War II. While in the Navy, he was as a machinist mate 1st class aboard the USS Weisman (DE-667) and a member of the Destroyer Escorts Sailors Association (DESA). Martin was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Pike Township Sportsman’s Association and Stony Creek AA’s. After his service with the Navy he was a tool room supervisor for Dana Corporation (former Parish Press Steel Co.) for 36 years until retiring in 1979. Martin is survived by four children: Anne M. Flores of California, Kathy L. wife of James M ann of South Carolina, John M. of Lower Alsace and Martin D. husband of Christina of Mt. Penn. Martin had seven grandchildren: Michelle, Matthew, Bridget, Amy, Michael, Carly, and Peter (deceased), two great grandchildren Devon and Kennedy. He is also survived by One Brother: Arthur Hill of Stony Creek and Three Sisters: Dorothy Auchenbach of West Leesport, Anabel Stump ofStony Creek and Barbara Loose of Reading. Martin was Pre Deceased by two sisters Bessie Troutman and Grace Wells and one brother Richard Hill. Services from Lutz Funeral Home, Inc2100 Perkiomen Ave. Mount Penn on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at 11:30 am. Friends may call from 10:30-11:30 am.
