Marian Emma Hinkle, 94, of Reiffton, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2016 in The Reading Hospital and Medical Center . She was the wife of Theodore E. Hinkle who passed away November 6, 2010. They were married on April 20, 1943 and had celebrated 67 years of marriage. Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Richard S. and Elsie M. (Kraft) Wentzel. Marian was a graduate of Reading High School in 1940 and the Reading Hospital School of Nursing in 1943. She worked at the Reading Hospital, Community General Hospital and did private duty nursing. She was also the owner and operator of T&M Laundry in Reading for 15 years. Marian was well loved and was very involved with her church. She was a lifelong member of St. John's U.C.C. Reading where she served on consistory, served as a deacon and on the altar guild, of which she was president for many years. She was a coordinator for Meals on Wheels and participated with Crop Walk. She was well known for her cookies, fasnachts and Easter candy which she loved making and giving away to friends, family and neighbors. Using her creative skills and love of sewing, she gifted many handmade baby hats to family and friends. She especially loved working in her garden and feeding the birds and animals. She instituted the tradition of placing American flags on Perkiomen Ave. on Veteran's Day in honor of her husband and all Veteran's after the passing of her husband in 2010. Marian is survived by: one daughter: Diane (Hinkle) wife of Craig H. Sagemuehl of Sinking Spring; grandchildren: R. Dale Howe husband of Kelly, Todd Howe husband of Kate, Robin (Howe) wife of Michael Hall, Dawn (Sagemuehl) wife of Jeffrey Troutman and Trisha (Sagemuehl) wife of Andre Duffie; Nine Great-Grandchildren; One Sister: Peg (Wentzel) Moser and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her daughter, Janice (Hinkle) Howe, her infant brother, Richard S. Wentzel, Jr. and her sister, Anna (Wentzel) Brunner. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 am with services beginning at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 in St. John's U.C.C., 149 S. 9th Street, Reading, PA 19602.
