Wayne S. Hinnershitz

August 23, 1930 — August 19, 2016

Wayne S. Hinnershitz, 85, of Exeter Township, passed away Friday, August 19, 2016 in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center Emergency Room. He was the widower of Pauline N. (Gelsinger) Hinnershitz who passed away December 1, 2015. Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Clarence and Gertrude (Hafer) Hinnershitz. Wayne was a member of Zion Spies Evangelical Reformed Church and the United States Army. He was also a graduate of Mt. Penn High School and was a steelworker for Carpenter Technology for 26 years until his retirement. Wayne is survived by his sons, Steve C. Hinnershitz husband of Christine of Muhlenberg Township and Mark A. Hinnershitz husband of Ruthann of Exeter Township; grandchildren, Katrina, Aaron and Dylan Hinnershitz and Mark Blessing; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Ellen Mertz of Shillington. He was pre deceased by his son Scott W. and a brother Earl H. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 from 10:00-11:00 am with services beginning at 11:00 am in Zion Spies Evangelical Reformed Church, 318 Spies Church Road, Reading, PA 19606. Interment in Spies-Zion Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Endowment Fund at Zion Spies Evangelical Reformed Church at the above stated address. Lutz Funeral Home, Inc.
