Dr. Eric K. Holm, 81, of Reading, passed away on Monday, March 21, 2022, at his home. He is survived by his wife Kathleen (Smith) Holm. Born in Chester County, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late J. Spencer and Elizabeth (Cole) Holm. Eric graduated from Upper Darby High School in 1959, earned his Bachelor's Degree from Penn State University in 1963, and his M.D. from the Temple School of Medicine in 1969. He completed his medical residency in neurosurgery at the University of Pittsburgh.
Eric practiced neurosurgery for four years in Johnstown, PA, and 21 years in Reading, PA, where he served on the staff of Saint Joseph's Hospital, the Reading Hospital and Medical Center, and Pottstown Memorial Hospital. In 2019, he was honored for 50 years of service by the Berks County Medical Society and the Pennsylvania Medical Society. Even after his retirement in 2010, he was ever generous fielding medical questions from his family and friends. He enjoyed time with his family, especially his grandchildren, traveling, and sharing good food and wine.
In addition to his wife, Eric is survived by his children from his first marriage, Jim Holm of Washington, DC; Tara (Holm) Riley, wife of Tim, of Ithaca, NY; and Tim Holm, husband of Todd Henderson, of Albany, NY; and his stepson Jeffrey Leinbach of Lafayette, IN. He is also survived by his grandchildren Benjamin, Paul, and Hannah. Eric was predeceased by his sister Linnea (Holm) Landraitis.
