Karan Hums

Karán S. Hums, 47, of Mount Penn, passed away, Tuesday, March 28, 2017 in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Timothy J. Hums. Born in Lansdale, she was a daughter of Margaret C. (McMain) Hartzel of Souderton and the late James C. Hartzel. Karán was a graduate of Souderton High School in 1988 and was a member of Faith Lutheran Church-Mount Penn where she was a Sunday school teacher and was involved in many other church activities. She was a homeroom mom at Antietam Elementary School, loved cooking, baking, crafts, camping and going to Cape May. Karán was loved by her many pets. In addition to her husband and mother, Karán is survived by a daughter, Kassandra R. and a son Nolan A. both at home; one brother, Kevén A. Hartzel husband of Leah T. of Telford; one nephew, Kristian R. Hartzel and two nieces, Paige C. Kawano and Catherine T. Hartzel. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 10:30 am in Faith Lutheran Church, 210 N. 25th Street, Reading, PA 19606. Interment private at the convenience of the family.
