Janice G. (Getchell) Bauer

You have turned my mourning into joyful dancing. You have taken away my clothes of mourning and clothed me with joy, that I might sing praises to you and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give you thanks forever!

With great sadness we announce that Janice Gail (Getchell) Bauer was called home on February 2, 2025, at the age of 74. Janice was born in Philadelphia on March 4, 1950, to Clifford and Martha (Wittke) Getchell.

Janice has been married to the love of her life, Mark for 52 years. They created a home and family while residing in Mt. Penn, PA. She is truly known for being a loving mother and grandmother, including educating anyone within listening distance of her. She enjoyed going to the beach, singing in the choir, traveling, reading a good book and writing. Janice graduated from Frankford High School, and went on to further her education, earning her degrees Bachelors in Education at Penn State, Masters of Education at Kutztown and 2nd Masters of Education with a principal's certification at Lehigh. She had devoted her work into education by teaching for 40 years with the Pottsgrove School District.

Although Janice is not with us in body going forward, she is with us in all the memories that have been created.

She is survived by her Husband Mark L. Bauer Jr.; sister Judith (Getchell) Trach; children Elissa (Bauer) Arzuaga and Ericka Bauer; grandchildren Jazmine Arzuaga and Ethan Arzuaga. Including multiple nieces, nephews and extended family.

Visitation with family and friends will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm with services beginning at 1:00 pm at Schwarzwald U.C.C., 75 Church Lane Road, Reading, PA 19606. Interment will follow at Laureldale Cemetery, 631 Pottsville Pike, Reading, PA 19605. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
